Install a printer driver with a USB cable (macOS)

Follow these steps to download and install the printer software in macOS using a USB cable.

  1. Connect an A-to-B type USB cable between the computer and the printer.

    NOTE:

    HP recommends using a USB cable that is no longer than 2 m (6.5 ft).

  2. Go to 123.hp.com.

  3. Enter your printer model number.

  4. Click Install HP Easy Start to install the HP Easy Start utility.

    The computer downloads HP Easy Start.

  5. Follow the onscreen prompts to launch HP Easy Start and install the printer software.
