This document lists common printer driver and software issues and solutions to resolve them.
Find the issue that you are trying to resolve in the sections below and then follow the steps to resolve the problem.
A print driver for the printer is not visible in the printer folder
The print driver might not be installed, or the computer does not detect the printer.

Reinstall the printer software.
NOTE:Close any applications that are running. To close an application that has an icon in the system tray, right-click the icon, and select Close or Disable.

Try connecting the USB cable to a different USB port on the computer.
An error message was displayed during the software installation
The printer software did not install correctly.

Reinstall the printer software.

Check the amount of free space on the drive where you are installing the printer software. If necessary, free up as much space as you can, and reinstall the printer software.

If necessary, run the Disk Defragmenter, and reinstall the printer software.
The printer is in Ready mode, but nothing prints
Try printing a Configuration Page and verify that the power cable and USB cable are connected properly.

Print a Configuration Page from the printer control panel to verify printer functionality.
NOTE:The steps to print a Configuration Page vary by printer model. On the printer control panel, navigate to the Reports menu (on some printers, navigate to the Setup menu first), select the Configuration Page option, and then select the option to print the page.

Verify that all of the cables are correctly seated and within specifications. This includes the USB and power cables. Try a new cable.

Verify that the printer IP address listed on the Configuration Page matches the IP address for the software port. To do this, find your Windows operating system in the list below and follow the steps provided.

Windows 11:

Select the Search icon on the center of the taskbar, and type "printers" in the search box.

Select Printers & scanners.

From the list of printers, click to select your printer.

In the Printer settings list, select Printer properties.

Click the Ports tab, and then click Configure Port.

Verify the IP address, and then click OK or Cancel.

If the IP addresses are not the same, delete the driver, and then reinstall the driver using the correct IP address.

Windows 10:

Click the Search icon in the lower-left corner of the screen, and type "printers" in the search box.

Select Printers & scanners.

Select the icon for your printer, and then click the Manage button.

Click Printer Properties.

Click the Ports tab, and then click Configure Port.

Verify the IP address, and then click OK or Cancel.

If the IP addresses are not the same, delete the driver, and then reinstall the driver using the correct IP address.

Windows 8 and Windows 8.1:

From the Start screen, click Search, and then type "Devices and Printers".

Click Devices and Printers.

Right-click the print driver icon, and then select Printer properties.

Click the Ports tab, and then click Configure Port.

Click the Windows icon in the lower-left corner of the screen.

Click Devices and Printers.

Right-click the print driver icon, and then select Printer properties.

Click the Ports tab, and then click Configure Port.
